Hubby's Birthday Cards

I never posted Kenny's birthday cards this year. The one I made for him didn't come out like I intended but he doesn't know that and probably wouldn't care either way....he rolls his eyes at some of my purchases, but I know he is one of my biggest fans!! So here is the card I made for him for his birthday back in the beginning of February.

I used an old favorite SU! set, Classic Convertibles, to make this. Other supplies are card stock from CTMH, Tim Holtz dsp, Nesties (Wonky), antique brad, ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder, sanding block and sponges. The words were already printed on the the ribbon when I purchased it.
My little junior crafter also made a card for her Bobo with the help of my DIL, Linda. Here is what she came up with...not bad for a three-year-old!!! You should see her crank a Big Shot to make dolls out of craft foam!!!

Off to see a live production of Charlotte's Web with Kyli and her aunt and cousin. I'm sooooo excited!!! Charlotte's Web is one of my childhood faves. I think I read the book about three times while I was in elementary school!! Crafting ahead this week as I am off for Spring Break!!! See you soon!!

Kyli's Birthday card

My sweet little Kyli turned three yesterday and this is the card I will have for her when I pick her up this afternoon. She loves cupcakes, so I knew I had to use this image from My Favorite Things to make her card this year. Image is colored with Copic markers and the papers are from the Glitter Sweet Stack from DCWV. Touches of Stickles here and there. I colored some tiny half-pearls with a Copic marker to get a color to match her dress. Thanks for stopping in today. It's a glorious day here and I have lots planned. Enjoy your day!

Woo Hoo...Anything Goes!!

It's time for another challenge from Totally Stampalicious and Anything Goes!!! How's that for a simple challenge. And here's a direct quote from the TS blog....

Now we expect to have quite a few players for this one...

  For this one, I pulled out one of the new sets in the Bugaboo line from Totally Stampalicious. I colored the image with Copic markers. I stamped her twice, once on white and once on the dsp. I fussy cut the white layer and placed her over the other to match the tiny details on her outline that I couldn't cut out. Added some tiny half-pearls for her earrings. 
The dsp is from BoBunny and is part of the incredible bargains I got at Priceless, the LSS, on Black Friday. That's the only place I went on Friday as I don't like crowds and lines well enough to do the whole shopping thing. I just hung out there all day and played with new toys among some of my favorite people! Trish had these awesome paper packs for $11.99. Each pack included 50 sheets of Bo Bunny papers, most of them double sided and some doilies with cute edges, two sheets of chipboard, two sheets of rub-ons, a shaped book kit, and a package of buttons or bling!!! I guess I did do some Christmas shopping because I bought several of them!! I used one of the doilies and coordinating papers to make this card. I cut the doily so it covered most of the card with a right angle in the corner.
The sentiment was added by using a scalloped oval punch on a scrap of card stock that was folded in half. I didn't insert the paper all the way into the punch, meaning I left the folded edge partially unpunched. That gave me a flap under which I could hide the second half of the sentiment.

I'm pretty happy with this. After I made it, Bonnie and I were running around the whole store coming up with ideas for using some of those other oddly shaped papers that we never knew what to do with! Great...something new to collect!!!

Birthday Turtle

I had a few scraps of Cottage Wall dsp in a little bag that I laid on my new work desk while doing my stamp room overhaul. I love this paper with my favorite purple and green color combo! I think there are just a couple of little scraps left after making this card, so don't be surprised if you see one more card made with this paper...can't bear to just toss it!

I picked up this cute little freebie digi image a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it's a Bugaboo, but I'll probably be back to edit when I discover that I'm wrong! I colored him with Copic markers. I added a little texture to his body and shell by using a clear Copic blender and just making little dots all over. There's that Cuttlebug embossing folder again in the background! Can you tell I love this one?

I have just a little homework to finish for my online reading class, and then I hope to be able to stamp most of the day...I'll clean tomorrow when hubby is off at work! 

Tickle Your Funny Bone with the Totally Stampalicious Challenge

The challenge this week at Totally Stampalicious is to make a humorous card, so I used one of the new Stella images from Totally Stampalicious. This image is part of the collection of acrylic stamps that were previously only available as digital images from Bugaboo. There are a total of eight sets in this collection and they were just released Thursday evening for those of you who love those Bugaboo images but prefer to work with a rubber or acrylic stamp.
I made another easel card with a base of Basic Gray. The dsp is from SU!'s stack that was available during Sale-Abration and is layered with GP white.The ribbon is Basic Gray taffeta ribbon, also from SU!!! I love this ribbon....ties up into the prettiest bows!! The image is colored with Copic markers. I used a clear glitter gel pen to add some sparkly accents to the image. Hope you like it...sure was fun to make!!

TS Monday Challenge

 

Over at Totally Stampalicious, the challenge this week was to make a card or project with lots of glitter and bling....Vegas style in honor of Becky's much-deserved vacation to Sin City!! The prize for this week's challenge is being picked up by Becky herself while she is enjoying all the sights in Vegas. 

For my card, I dug into the scrap pile and pulled out these super bright papers that were left from a flip book I made last month. I used the Totally Stampalicioius Old Brawd set to make my card. I used the cake image and one of the sentiments. The inside says "that's gotta hurt!"   Added lots of glitter to the cake and some of the flowers on the papers. I punched the right edge with the new scallop border punch from SU! and added some diamond blings between each scallop. I have a really hard time working with such bright colors when they aren't toned down by a dark or neutral color. Sure hope this isn't too blinding!

John Deere easel card

It seems like it takes forever for me to find a few minutes to stamp something and get it posted here, or anywhere else, for that matter! One of my friends at work has a grandson who is turning one this next week and while she is a fabulous artist and designer, she seems to be a little intimidated by the smaller work area of a card. So, she asked me to make a card for Malachi's birthday which will be in the theme of John Deere tractors. I had to go searching for an image to suit the occasion and found the one I used on this card at DigitalInkCo.com. I have only recently started using some digital images. I have to admit, I had considered them "cheating" but I have discovered that I really like how quickly the product is delivered, the itty bitty storage space, and the flexibility of being able to resize the iamges to my project. There is no danger of me giving up my actual rubber and acrylic stamps, but I love having options!
For this card, I decided to try the easel card that was featured as a technique challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. This was soooooo easy and lots of fun. In fact, I want to go back and do another one while I have a few minutes to do some stamping! I used markers to color the image and sponged a little blue and green around the background. The sentiment image is from Close to My Heart as is the little wheel image I used to make the stop on the easel stand. The background paper is by Basic Gray and I ran the yellow cardstock through the BigShot with the Cuttlebug diamond plate embossing folder. I think my friend will be pleased with the card I created for her grandson. I hope you enjoy it too!

Totally Stampalicious Sneak Peak....Old Brawd

Sharing another sneak peak with you from the brand new stamp company, Totally Stampalicious. This new company will be officially open for business on September 15^th. This card uses a couple of the images from one of their four new stamp sets. This set is call Old Brawd, but I don’t think she really looks all that old. The inside sentiment says “That’s gotta hurt!”  The image was colored with markers and then covered with Versamark and clear embossing powder.  Her jewelry and the flower on her hat have some sparkle added with Crystal Stickles.

More birthday monkeys

Here is another card using the monkey images by Stampendous. It is very unusual for me to leave a card without embellishments but I think this would make a great card for a little boy. Of course, little boys aren't interested in ribbons and glitter. It was really hard to leave it alone!
The image is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black and then colored with an assortment of Copic and Stampin' Up! markers. The designer paper is from Basic Gray and the cardstock is from Stampin" Up!: Brilliant Blue, Basic Black, and Whisper White.

I had hoped to get in some stamping time today, but hubby and I ended up going to my son, Robbie's house. I watched Kyli while they worked on Rob's car. They got it running good again which will make things much less complicated for everyone involved. Got home just in time to cook some dinner and it is finishing up while I make this quick post. I went through some of the stuff I had been working on and never uploaded and thought I'd share this one with you.
