A Very Special Anniversary

This card is a work of heart. It it going to a pair of very special people who are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. I will tell you more about that in a moment. This card also fills the ticket for the TSMONDAY16 challenge over at Totally Stampalicious.  The challenge this week is to use digital images on your card. I have to say that those girls, Becky and Joycelyn, are being so smart about how they are developing their young stamp company. They are not over extending themselves and letting the company get into financial straits. They are also awesome about listening to what their customers want and the trends in the business. They have been offering free digital images with the purchase of a stamp set for a while now. But now, you can purchase the digital images individually!! How awesome is that??? I love having the versatility of choosing an actual stamp or a digital image. The digis are so easy to work with and offer so much versatility...I'm really getting hooked on them!

For this card, I used an old sketch challenge from Splitcoaststampers for the basis for my card. This baby is huge!! The base is a half sheet of basic black card stock with a layer of real red over it. I then added folding panels in each color for the images. I used two TS sets for this...Glam Kitty and Road Hawg. I think Glam Kitty makes a pretty cool biker chick! I even added one of Road Hawg's tats to her arm. I used a Copic markers to color my images and added some clear glitter gel pen to add some sparkly details to my images.
I know that bikers would not typically be into bling, but the female half of the couple this card is intended for is my sparkle buddy out in Seattle, Washington, and she is into shimmer, shine, glitter, and sparkle as much as I am. I also don't think they are particularly into Harley's or motorcycles in general, but when I was asked to make a special card in honor of their anniversary, these two images jumped right into my head.

Some of the other details on this card are the textured panels I added using brushed silver card stock, screw head and blingy red brads for the corners, a Martha Stewart border punch for the inside panel, and a computer generated greeting for the inside.
This goes off in today's mail and will posted on Splitcoaststampers later today. There is a conspiracy to create an entire gallery of special cards to celebrate Miss Em and Tihiti Pete's special day. Thanks for stopping in!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I am really enjoying my three day weekend so far. It started with celebrating my hubby's birthday Friday. Kyli, my granddaughter who will be two next Friday, came to spend the night. She helped BoBo (my hubby) eat his birthday cake and he even got a taste himself! He had to go to work yesterday at noon and work on a hay wagon that was needing some of his auto body skills. As he was getting ready to leave, I met him at the farm with Kyli and she got to see the new baby moos. She loved it. Her first response when we pulled into the field with all the mamas and babies was "Wooooowwww!" I rolled the window down on the truck so she could see them a little better and she started mooing at them. It was so cool when they all started mooing back!! I can't describe how delightful it was to watch her face as we drove among the cows and calves for her to see them! Then we took her home to Daddy. What a joy she is! I went to bed early last night and am just kicking back a little before I head off to the stamp room for a day of stamping!
This is a card I made at the all day crop a little over a week ago. I sent this off to Cathy Singleton for her birthday. Cathy is one of the very talented group of stampers I have joined in a group called the Divas of Stamping. The card base is Wild Wasabi and I used Pretty in Pink for the layers. The background piece is one of the zillions of pieces of faux handmade papers I made for a technique challenge over at Splitcoaststampers last summer. The technique was so much fun! Here's how I did it:
I cut pieces of white card stock into quarter sheets. Using three or four colors of acrylic paints, I used toilet paper (the cheap stuff works best) to daub the colors, starting with the lightest, onto the card stock. As the paint is added to the paper, small bits of the TP stick to the paint and card stock added the most awesome texture! I just couldn't stop making pieces of this background paper!!
Anyway, I used pink, green, and cream colored paints to make this piece. I used a Martha Stewart border and matching corner punch to make the border on the pink layer. I added little half pearls and pink taffeta ribbon from Stampin' Up! to the Magnolia image that was colored with Copic markers. I used a clear glitter gel pen to add a little sparkle to her wings. I loved how this card turned out and I hope Cathy did, too!!
Thanks for stopping in today and have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your sweetie. I plan to watch the Daytona 500 with mine with lots of stamping mixed in!

Here is My Heart! for the Totally Stampalicious We {Heart} FREE Shipping Challenge

Over at Totally Stampalicious they are having a special this week. Spend $30 and your shipping is free!!! On top of that, they are having a challenge to make cards or projects that show off your hearts. I was having a little trouble with my coloring this weekend, so I was working with images that were already colored. Alas, none of the images I had colored up were from the TS line :0(
I made my card with a Magnolia image that features a little sweetie carrying a basket full of hearts. I used some SU! designer series papers for my layers. The card base is Bashful Blue from SU! Added some little half pearls to the corners of the image which was punched with a ticket corner punch. The heart border is one of my current favorites and is from Martha Stewart.
The lacey ribbon is a gem I picked up at the stamp/scrap yard sale at Priceless Scrapbooks a couple of weeks ago. The white bow is made from the ribbon that was holding closed the little package of chocolates (mmmm...yummy!) that our sweet Kelly B. brought to share at Saturday's all day crop at Priceless! Thanks, Kelly!!
This card also will be used to complete the "Show us your ribbons" challenge for the Rubberstamping Diva group I recently joined. What a fun bunch of ladies...I'm really going to enjoy swapping cards and yackety-yack with those chickie-dees!!

Totally Stampalicious Sketch Challenge

Totally Stampalicious is having another sketch challenge this week.  I had some time after Kyli went home this afternoon to get in my room and do a little creating and came up with this for the challenge.

I used the music notes and one of the sentiments from the Rockin' Frawg set. I stamped the images on black glossy card stock with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I used the Night and Day papers from SU's fall mini catty for my layers on a Basic Black base. Brushed silver card stock makes up the layer under the music notes. I added a couple of holographic star stickers and popped up the music note layer on dimensionals. Head on over to Totally Stampalicious to check out the sketch and the prize they are offering. I can't win it as a member of the design team, but you might with your entry!! Thanks for stopping in today!

Friday Sketchers #87

Today, Totally Stampalicious is sponsoring the sketch challenge at Friday Sketchers. I love the sketch because I am totally into square cards lately. They cost more to send, but lately, I just don't seem to care. I used the Willameana set from Totally Stampalicious and Bittersweet papers from Basic Gray. The image is colored with Copic markers.

The ribbon is Pretty in Pink taffeta from SU! The card stock is Purely Pomegranate and Chocolate Chip. Card measures 5 1/2" square.  There is a great prize for this sketch challenge but as a member of the design team for Totally Stampalicious, I am not eligible to win it. But you are!! So why not pop over to Friday Sketchers and check it out!!

Digi Raccoon

Over the past few months, I have acquired a fairly large collection of digital images. The only problem is, like unmounted rubber, it is sometimes hard to identify where the image came from! I love this raccoon because of his realistic appearance and his mischievous pose. I just can't remember which company I purchased him from!! If I am able to identify the origin of this cute little guy, I will come back and edit my post. He was colored with Copic markers. It took a while to find the right colors and I probably couldn't replicate this one if  I had to. I went back over so many times with different colors!!! I used a new punch from Martha Steward to do the borders and corners of the mat layer. The designer papers are Bella Blue from SU. A little Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip card stock and a silk flower with a button for the center and it's done. Thanks for stopping in!

Chickadee

I spent some time this past weekend playing with some new rubber. I have wanted to get the Daisy image by Sugar Nellie for some time and finally decided to order her. The only problem was, that poor sweet girl couldn't fly all the way from Scotland by herself, so I added this sweet image to the order. She is called Chickadee and I just loved coloring this one. The colors I used actually match the card stock much better in real life than they do in this photo. The card stock is Bermuda Bay (SU in color) and Basic Black. The flowery image in the foreground is a background stamp I recently purchased from Hero Arts. I stamped it on acetate with black Staz-on and attached it to the card layers using silver brads. Some wide sheer black ribbon finished it off. Pretty quick and easy! Image is colored with Copic markers and stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black.
